What is a beta program?

A select group of the campus population is being chosen to try out the WildCard Mobile ID in Apple Wallet. You will be part of the group that helps ensure the product is ready for launch to the entire campus at a later date. Since you will be able to use your iPhone or Apple Watch at most locations where the WildCard ID is currently used on campus, we need active beta users to begin testing across campus.

What do I need to be able to participate?

To participate, you will need an eligible device with a passcode (at minimum) enabled:

  • An Apple ID signed into iCloud
  • iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6s Plus or later running the latest version of iOS
  • Apple Watch Series 1, or later running the latest version of watchOS

To help keep your student/employee ID card in the Apple Wallet secure, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required. Your iPhone must be registered through Duo. For further instructions, click here.

How to get started in the beta program?

  1. Have a photo submitted and approved.
    • If you already have a valid WildCard ID and photo on file, please continue reading.
  2. Please follow instructions to set up multi-factor authentication with Duo Mobile if you do not already have Duo Mobile set up.
  3. Download, sign-in and open the GET app.
  4. Tap on Add to Apple Wallet.
  5. Follow the steps to add your WildCard Mobile ID to your Apple Wallet.
  6. Once completed, open Apple Wallet to find your mobile WildCard among your other cards and passes.

As a tester...

Don't blog, post screenshots, tweet or publicly post information about your beta program experience. Keeping information confidential is critical to the program's success. Also, participation is completely voluntary.

What is expected of me as a beta tester?

You are encouraged to use your WildCard Mobile ID in Apple Wallet and file any issues or feedback you have at go.uky.edu/MobileIDPilot. When sharing feedback, please include the following:

  • What date/time did the issue occur (include timezone)?

  • Did the issue occur multiple times (i.e. would we be able to reproduce it or was it a one-time occurrence)?
  • Please describe the issue and include screenshots or videos of the issue to help us recreate the problem.

Do I still need my physical card if I have my WildCard Mobile ID in Apple Wallet?

During the beta period, it is strongly recommended that you have your physical card with you as a backup in case you encounter any issues with your card in Apple Wallet. And if you do have an issue, make sure to use the feedback form to report it.
