A select group of the campus population is being chosen to try out the WildCard Mobile ID in Google Pay. You will be part of the group that helps ensure the product is ready for launch to the entire campus at a later date. Since you will be able to use your phone at most locations where the WildCard ID is currently used on campus, we need active pilot users to be testing across campus.
Google Pilot Program WildCard Mobile ID
What is a pilot program?
What do I need to be able to participate?
To participate, you will need an eligible device with a passcode (at minimum) enabled:
- An Android mobile device Lollipop version or higher
To help keep your student/employee ID card in Google Pay secure, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required. Your Android mobile device must be registered through Duo. For further instructions, click here.
How do I get started in the pilot program?
- Have a photo submitted and approved.
- If you already have a valid WildCard ID and photo on file, please continue reading.
- Please follow instructions to set up multi-factor authentication with Duo Mobile if you do not already have Duo Mobile set up.
- Download, sign-in and open the GET app (allow to track your location).
- Tap on "Add ID to Phone."
- Follow the steps to add your WildCard ID to your phone.
As a tester...
Don't blog, post screenshots, tweet or publicly post information about your pilot program experience. Keeping information confidential is critical to the program's success. Also, participation is completely voluntary.
What is expected of me as a pilot tester?
You are encouraged to use your WildCard Mobile ID in Google Pay and file any issues or feedback you have at go.uky.edu/MobileIDPilot. When sharing feedback, please include the following:
- What date/time did the issue occur (include timezone)?
- What does the issue you are having involve? Did you encounter an issue within the app, at the reader, etc?
- Did the issue occur multiple times (i.e. would we be able to reproduce it or was it a one-time occurrence)?
- Please describe the issue and include screenshots or videos of the issue to help us recreate the problem.
Where can the Mobile ID be used?
The below lists include the locations on UK's Lexington campus where you can and cannot use the Mobile ID during the pilot. Where the Mobile ID is not available you will need to use your physical pass. Please check back as we will be updating the lists as we bring more locations online.

Do I still need my physical card if I have my WildCard Mobile ID in Google Play?
During the pilot period, it is strongly recommended that you have your physical card with you as a backup in case you encounter any issues with your card in Google Pay. And if you do have an issue, make sure to use the feedback form to report it.
